CHUCHO Y PONCHO SÁNCHEZ
San Baltazar Chichicapam, Oaxaca 0522HSA, 46%, 333 bottles, October, 2022

Mexicano barril is a single varietal of Agave rhodacantha (not a mezcal of mezicano and barril), unique to Chichicapam. The plants are relatively smaller than other rhodacantha varietals that grow in neighboring communities. This batch was made by Poncho and Chucho along with another of their brothers Beto.

The hermanos Sánchez Altamirano represent the 4th generaton of mezcaleros in the Sánchez family. Having learned the craft from their late father, the famed Faustino Sánchez, they’ve added a lifetime of their own study and experience to fine tune the process behind each batch.
